Responsible Care
Responsible care, by definition, is a program that considers primarily the protection of human life, environment and natural resources in all stages of activities and gives particular importance to this consistently. It was suggested initially by Canadian Chemical Producers' Association in 1984 and it spread all over the world and is implemented in more than 50 countries for the present.

Responsible Care Program is a voluntary initiative directed to chemical industry. It is coordinated by Turkish Chemical Manufacturers Association (TKSD) in our country. The company commits that it shall apply all the principles and requirements of Responsible Care Program and TKSD controls fulfillment, competence and continuity of the applications.

Responsible Care Program is a short, medium and long-term, non-stop application that needs effort and development in parallel with technological and economic conditions. Turkish Chemical Manufacturers Association continues to develop new methods and guidelines so that the fundamental rules of Responsible Care can be applied in all departments of institutions and in all stages of activities efficaciously. The Association is in continuous communication with the chemical industry.

Ak-Kim is one of the first companies committed to and applied Responsible Care Program (11 February 1993). In line with Responsible Care Program, Ak-Kim gives priority to environment protection, human health and technical safety in all stages of feasibility, planning, project designing, assembly, production activities, shipment, maintenance and all other service activities and accomplishes production by giving particular importance to these.

Targets of Responsible Care

1. To determine adverse effects of raw materials and auxiliary products, circumstances of processes to the environment and human health in advance and to develop methods to minimize the effects.

2. To inform all the employees about the danger and harm, conditions of transportation and storage of the chemical materials used in the production; to train all the employees against probable safety and contamination risks that can be created by the conditions of production and to develop sense of responsibility.

3. To minimize the development of undesired wastes by using new technology and processes.

4. To prevent, to clean the wastes in their origin by making use of all treatment techniques in order to prevent the adverse effects of production wastes to environment and human health; to investigate and evaluate the probability of using some wastes as raw material and auxiliary products in different production branches.

5. To develop techniques that use raw materials and source of energy in the most productive way without wasting them and pay strict attention to use clean energy that does not pollute the environment.

6. To provide information to the consumers about the products of Ak-Kim, their usage and the recovery of package and wastes without giving any harm to the environment after use and their disposal.

7. To encourage and support the research aimed to develop environmental friendly products and methods that do not pollute the environment.

8. To be in cooperation and collaboration with neighboring corporations and local authorities for the measures to be taken in advance against occupational accidents and fires that can happen.

9. To inform the public from time to time about the activities of the Company, environment, human health and occupational safety oriented works so that the public does not have faulty information or judgment about the company.
