Within the framework of “UN Global Compact” initiated by the United Nations to encourage public and private sector institutions to target sustainable development, Akkim Kimya prepared its Third Communication of Progress in line with the international reporting standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Report successfully received C-application level approval.

Global Compact is a corporate responsibility initiative that suggests universal principles to build a common development culture in the ever-competing business world. Initiated with the idea of achieving a “sustainable and extensive global economy”, being a signatory to UNGC is completely voluntary. Aiming to achieve global improvements in the issues of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption through practices in universally common standards, the Compact has so far been signed by more than 10,000 corporate participants and stakeholders in over 145 countries.

Having signed the Compact in 2007, Akkim Kimya annually reports that it adopts practices in conformity with the principles set for issues such as environment, occupational health, human rights and anti-corruption. With the Third Communication of Progress prepared within the framework of UNGC and in line with the international reporting standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Akkim received approval in C-application level, thus proving that it has reached universal standards in issues including environment, occupational health, working conditions, and anti-corruption.As a transparent and sustainable company attaching great importance to sustainable development, Akkim will continue efforts to improve its performance in these standards.

Akkim published its GRI approved Sustainability Report for 2012.
